This special issue of Adapted Physical Activity Quarterly examines early childhood physical activity for children with special developmental needs. Because this is a relatively new field of research, the papers seek to stimulate further investigation by providing strategies for collecting data and methods for compiling and communicating results. The studies are intended to influence a wide range of professionals, including researchers, program instructors in adapted physical activity, and practicing early childhood movement specialists.
